PROFILE
Full time postgraduate or Ph.D. student at a University or equivalent institution.  
Excellent command of English and Chinese (oral and written) and skillful in writing and Chinese-English translation.  
Good sense of teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to assigned tasks.
Good computer and IT skills and experience in using Office software packages.
Major in culture-related fields (heritage, art history, architecture, archaeology, tourism, etc.) would be an asset. Mastering one language of East Asia countries (Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, and Chinese) would be an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture, the Contractor will perform the following functions by telecommuting from home:
Assist in the implementation of cultural projects and activities related to preservation and management of cultural and natural heritage, safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and cultural & creative industries, with particular focus on “Conservation and Management of World Heritage Sites in China (Phase III);
Assist with drafting, translation, editing and proof-reading of project-related documents, speeches, press-releases and reports;
Provide assistance to administrative tasks including travel arrangements, coordination & communication, preparation of culture events, documentation and filing system etc;
Undertake other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
Obtain understanding of UNESCO’s mandate and programmes, with particular focus on Culture programme activities, through virtual internship during the COVID-19 crisis.
Acquire experience in project conceptualization, planning, management and reporting.
Develop teamwork spirit and telecommuting skills with colleagues of diverse cultural background.
Develop negotiation skills with private/government partners/sectors.

IMPORTANT
The aim of the internship is to provide you with professional experience in an international organization that relates to and supplements your studies.
This internship offers you the opportunity to work in a multicultural, intergovernmental organization.
UNESCO does not remunerate or pay interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
As the internship programme is not connected with the recruitment process, the grating of an internship should not be interpreted in any way as a preliminary step towards employment at the Secretariat.
