Dr. Georg Schütte，secretary general of Germany’s Alexander von Humboldt Foundation visited Tsinghua Oct. 13.

Tsinghua President Gu Binglin met with Dr. Schütte，exchanging ideas on education, tuition, and research funding. President Gu also outlined the Tsinghua-RWTH Aachen joint master’s degree program.

After the talk, Dr. Schütte discussed Germany’s education system and research undertakings, and gave an introduction of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. More than 50 faculty and students attended in the activity, held in the meeting room of Jiasuo guesthouse. 

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation was founded in Berlin in 1860, in honor of the famed explorer, diplomat, and scholar. The purpose of the Foundation is to grant fellowships and awards to trained and highly qualified persons not residing in Germany.
