On November 23, world renowned chimpanzee researcher Dr. Jane Goodall spoke to over 1000 Tsinghua students at the Main Hall. Students from the Green Association of Tsinghua University organized the lecture.
The lecture began with the film Jane Goodall ' s Wild Chimpanzees , a giant screen journey into the world of wild chimpanzees, drawn from her years of field research. Dr. Goodall then gave a speech entitled “From Gombe to the World” and answered students' questions. She also presented awards to the Enrichment Group of Beijing Zoo and the Roots & Shoots Group for 2004.
Dr. Goodall has devoted her life to researching and protecting wild chimpanzees. Since she arrived on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa in 1960 at the age of 26, Dr. Goodall has been performing unique field research. She has also founded Jane Goodall Institutes all over the world, with the mission of fostering respect and compassion for all living things, promoting understanding of all cultures and beliefs and inspiring individuals to improve the environment and living conditions for animals and humans alike, “We share the same world,” said Dr. Goodall
