Freshmen from several departments braved the chilly morning air Oct. 23 to participate in the annual sports meet, an event widely known for its most challenging rule: students must compete barefoot.
Students marched onto the athletic field in groups, carrying banners covered with catchy slogans and insignias. Students from the School of Applied Science and Technology bore a huge compact disc as their class emblem.
Events included the long jump, 100-meter relay, walking race, rope skipping and more. In the stands, spectators enthusiastically cheered their classmates.
The winner of the meet was Class 4 of the Department of Automotive Engineering, gathering a total score of 57.
The meet was originally designed to promote athletic spirit among students. In all but a few matches, athletes are required to compete shoeless.
