Vice Chancellor of University of Cambridge Visits Tsinghua

Prof. Alison Richard, Vice Chancellor of University of Cambridge, visited Tsinghua University on August 1. Tsinghua President Gu Binglin and Vice President Gong Ke met and had a friendly talk with Prof. Richard.

After the meeting, Prof. Richard visited Tsinghua-Foxconn Nanotechnology Research Center.

In an interview with the Global Times, Prof. Richard, Vice Chancellor of University of Cambridge and Prof. Gu Binglin, President of Tsinghua University exchanged ideas on topics such as how to construct world-class universities, how to educate world-class students, and international cooperation.

Professor Richard gained her undergraduate degree in anthropology at Cambridge and her doctorate in primate biology from London University. She is widely known for her research on the evolution of complex social systems among primates. From April 1994 to December 2002, she served as Provost of Yale University. She became Vice Chancellor of University of Cambridge in 2003.

Founded in 1209, University of Cambridge is one of the top universities in the world.
