Dr. Rod Fraster, President of University of Alberta in Canada, visited Tsinghua University on June 22. Vice Chairman of University Council Ye Hongkai, Jin Qinxian, Director of International technology Transfer Center, and Bai Shouren, Deputy Secretary-General of the University-Industry Cooperation Committee met and talked with Dr. Fraster.
Dr. Fraster introduced the recent development of University of Alberta and said that he hoped cooperation could be made between University of Alberta and Tsinghua University in the areas of technology transfer, continuing education, and so on. Professor Ye also gave a brief introduction to Tsinghua University.
“Tsinghua University is an open, comprehensive, and research-oriented university and hopes to build collaboration with excellent overseas universities,” Ye said.
After the meeting, Dr. Fraster visited the Environment Simulation and Pollution Control State Key Joint Laboratory, Tsinghua-Foxconn Nanotechnology Research Center, Tsinghua School of Continuing Education and the International Transfer Center. A Letter of Intent was signed between International Technology Transfer Center of Tsinghua University and University of Alberta’s School of Business to establish a cooperative relationship between both sides for the management and transfer of technology.
Founded in 1908, University of Alberta is one of the oldest universities in Canada.
