Five Tsinghua students win the 2003 Intel Scholarship

(Tsinghua News Center) Five graduate students from the School of Information Science and Technology together with five students from Peking University have been awarded the Intel Scholarship on Information Technology.

Wendy Hawkins, director of education of Intel Corporation, presented the scholarships March 16 at Tsinghua.

Intel Corporation established the Intel Scholarship on Information Technology in 1999 for students of China’s two most prestigious universities -- Tsinghua University and Peking University. The scholarship is in the amount of 7,000 yuan per student.

Requirements for applicants include outstanding grades, research capability, and creativity. In addition, recipients must work in China after graduation.

Intel Corporation will assign an Intel mentor for each of the 10 winners. During summer vacation, these winners from both universities will have the option to take internships at Intel China.
