Eight Tsinghua professors are participating in the ongoing session of the Tenth National People's Congress, which opened in Beijing March 8.
The delegates from Tsinghua were elected following at People's Congress held in different provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions prior to the convening of the NPC. They are: Wang Weicheng, Department of Thermal Engineering, Beijing delegate; Chen Bingzhen, Department of Chemical Engineering, Hebei delegate; Qian Yi, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, and an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jiangsu delegate; Chen Nanxian, Department of Physics, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, Zhejiang delegate; Xiao Hong, professor of Art, Henan delegate; Zhou Jianjun, School of Civil Engineering, Guanxi delegate; Yuan Si, School of Civil Engineering, Yunnan delegate; and Yang Huizhu, Department of Mechanical Engineering, a Xinjiang delegate.
These professors were elected as delegates of their hometown for the sake of talking for the people there.
