The benefactor of the soon-to-be-built Li Wenda Medical and Life Science Library was honored recently at a ceremony to announce the new addition to the Tsinghua Medical School.

Li Wenda, chairman of the Li Jinji Group, Hong Kong, was welcomed by president Wang Dazhong, and staff and students of the medical school. The Li Jinji Group donate 10 million HK dollars.

During the event, an agreement for joint scientific research was signed by Tsinghua and Li Jinji, aimed at advocating the use of science in the production of the traditional Chinese health products, so as to further applying scientific and technical methods in the production of the Chinese herbal medicine.

Located at the medical school complex at the northwest edge of campus, the new four-floor library will cover 4,000 square meters, and will offer computer and multimedia functions, as well as telecommunication education.

The library is expected to be completed in 2004.

Founded in 1888, the Li Jinji Group has now developed into a well-known producer of sauce products.
