The Tsinghua Modern Management Forum, sponsored by the university’s Modern Management Research Center, opened at the School of Economics and Management June 25. Guest lecturers were Professor Cheng Siwei, a well-known management expert who is also the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Professor Zhao Chunjun, dean of the School of Economics and Management; and Professor Wang Zhongtuo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from the Dalian Science and Technology University.
The three lecturers reviewed the development of management theory, then offered their own opinions on the problems that emerge when management theory is put to use in actual business environments. These problems became the subject of in-depth discussions among the participants.
As the only management science research center among the 100 humanities bases that are approved by Ministry of Education, Tsinghua Modern Management Research Center has paid close attention to the new developments in management theory since it opened in October 2001.
The idea for the annual forum was put forward by the research center to explore the changes in management theory in China and to improve management in Chinese enterprises.
Deans of management departments from many prestigious Chinese universities, entrepreneurs, and faculty and students from Tsinghua also took part in the forum.
