Zhu Wenwu, a professor from Tsinghua University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology, was recently awarded with the prestigious Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Multimedia (SIGMM) Award for Outstanding Technical Contributions to Multimedia Computing, Communications and Applications (ACM SIGMM Technical Achievement Award). The award is given in recognition of his pioneering research in the areas of multimedia communications and analysis.
The ACM SIGMM Technical Achievement Award, as the highest honor bestowed by SIGMM, is considered one of the most prestigious accolades in the computer science sector. The award recognizes members of the community for long-term technical accomplishments or those who have made a notable impact through a significant technical innovation.
Zhu Wenwu, a tenured professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science and Technology, focuses on multimedia intelligence and multimedia big data analysis. He currently serves as the associate dean of the Beijing National Research Center for Information Science and Technology and the director of Tsinghua University’s Big Data Intelligence Research Center at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. Zhu is a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). In 2018, he was elected as a member of Academia Europaea.
