The 6th Tsinghua University 3D Printing Skills Competition wrapped up on December 10.
The competition was hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University. It was comprised of the three competition categories of appearance design, machine design and material fabrication.
Contestants were expected to use 3D printing equipment, which is made with stereo-lithography and fused deposition modeling, to produce their own models from different materials within a defined period, and then print out and polish them into complete works.
Participants in the category of material fabrication were required to integrate their professional knowledge with the manufacturing of 3D printing materials compatible with stereo-lithography or fused deposition modeling.
Judges evaluated their works in terms of innovation, functionality, integrity and final presentation.
After four weeks of preliminaries and finals, three groups of contestants won the first prize; six groups claimed the second prize; nine groups shared the third prize; and 15 student groups got an honorable prize.
The awards and closing ceremonies were held online.
